Happy Birthday to our Blog
Today marks the 3rd birthday of our lil blog. Its weird to think that I've taken the time to write 241 posts over the last 3 years. I've actually been processing the whole "blogging" thing lately and still am trying to figure out my true motivations behind it. I've read some interesting articles lately that claim that "bloggers are reporting greater happiness because they feel more known and connected to the world." I guess its along the same lines as the whole social networking scene and Facebook. For me, i do enjoy and desire to "be known" but I think the greater motivation for blogging is more for cathartic purposes. Natalie journals, and I try, but honestly it just is not comfortable to my hand to use a pen, so i prefer a keyboard. Maybe I'm still acting out my childhood dream to be Doogie Howser. Writing about things that are important to me helps me process them. The only negative to the blog, is that almost weekly I want to sit down and write about something, but don't because of fear. Because our blog is still "public," I don't feel complete freedom to write my heart and lay it all out on the table. Maybe I should start a "private" blog just for me and God. Overall, I love blogging and I'd just like to give Google a shoutout and thank them for providing the services of "Blogger." (Even though I just recently found out that Google now owns the rights to anything I've posted on here, which scares me a little.)
The Weekly Top Ten Highs and Lows:
1. HI: "ManTime," our Young Life guys weekly time to eat meat and talk about God and gals went awesome and I'm encouraged by what God is up to in the lives of my high school friends.
2. LO: I have a 30 page paper due on Wednesday that I should be working on instead of blogging.
3. HI: Nat felt Quattro move last Saturday and I got to feel it (I'm pretty sure it wasn't gas) on Wed night!
4. LO: Nat has a BIG paper due TOMORROW that she is working on while I procrastinate!
5. HI: We went to our friend Ebeth Wilson's wedding last night and we're just both suckers for weddings. Its such a beautiful picture of God's love for us. Congrats Chris and Elizabeth Johnson!
6. HI: Dook is about to get stomped by Roys Boys on Senior Day at UNC!
7. LO: Did I mention we have papers due?
8. HI and LO: We had our 1st Arapahoe Ultimate Frisbee game this week and Coach Hill let the team down as we lost to the infamous Columbine High School. 15-10. Even though we lost, it was bonding and i think the Warriors had a good time together...Next game versus Mountain Vista this Thursday!
9: HI: We are taking a 4 weekend marriage course here at school called "Building a Resilient Marriage." Its taught by Gordon and Gail MacDonald and we were privileged this weekend to get a peak into their strategies of child rearing. What a sweet gift to learn from such wise followers of Christ. They've been married 48 years!
10: HI: At YL this week, my new friend Ali, an exchange student from Iraq, sang Happy Birtday in Arabic to one of the girls at club. I should have recorded it and played it for our blog today. Oh well...We've got to go blow out the candles...Happy Birthday Blog!
