Is there anything better than finding a package in your mailbox? Well, maybe a few things, but it sure makes my day when I open our little mail box cubby at our apartment complex and find a key inside. Its like I get 2 treats: the surprise of the key inside and then the surprise inside the bigger mailbox that the key opens! I would compare it to the thrill of Gushers fruit snacks. First you get the joy of the chewy gelatinous sugar covering and then you reach the center of thick sweetened liquid fruit juice: A nugget of heavenly goodness.
Well, today my key opened a mailbox with a package inside from my old friend Eric Marshburn. Eric and I share 3 main things: The Dale House Project (where we both worked), a man crush on our mutual friend Drew Carter, and undying devotion to Roy's Boys and Tarheel basketball. I opened Eric's package to discover that Eric Marshburn knows my love language: Tarheel Peanuts.
Yes, peanuts are fattening, but don't they say it's a "good kind of fat?" The beauty of this package was that in addition to being BOTH salted AND roasted, they are wrapped in a beautiful Carolina blue package that brought small tears to my eyes. Well, it was more of a wet eye glaze, but you get the point. Included with the nuts was a note telling me that these were a little taste of NC to enjoy while watching the Final Four this weekend. I am overwhelmed with gladness.
Also, congrats to Eric and Meredith who are getting married this May in Hickory, NC!
Mash, your thoughtfulness made my day. I miss you man. Go HEELS!!!
